Professional Career

Chung is vice chairman, an honorary position, of Bushitol Corporation, which he founded in 2003 with ten colleagues and had served as the president and CEO until his retirement in 2015, During that period, Bushitol helped over 160 Korean small and medium enterprises in their export drive. Prior to Bushitol, he worked for The Dow Chemical Company for a total of 29 years; first 21 years in the States and last eight years in Europe.

At Dow USA, he was involved in research and development on thermoplastic foams. He was instrumental to finding environmentally better blowing agents and developing foam extrusion of polypropylene. In addition, he worked on application development of various novel polymers. His findings include the use of ethylene-styrene copolymers in compatibilizing polyethylene and polystyrene. In 1995, Dow sent Chung to a German Laboratory to help develop new products and nurture college recruits. There he led development of two novel sound absorbing foams and a thermal insulation foam. He led a project team that was formed to commercialize the innovative products.

Chung is the author of two book chapters, and an author of 26 publications and 73 US patents. Chung is a corecipient of two R&D 100 Awards that are offered for 100 most technically significant new products each year by R&D Magazine. He is a fellow of Society of Plastics Engineers.
