Dr. Sooho Kim has over 35 years of automotive R&D experience in the U.S. and Korea including his 25-year tenure at General Motors R&D Center in Warren, MI.  His major contribution to GM was the development of lightweight automotive alloys and forming technology leading to the implementation of key Al/Mg closure components.  In 2010, he joined Korea Institute of Materials Science (KIMS) as Director of Advanced Materials Research & Implementation Center.  In 2012, he took the position of President/CTO at Alantum Corp., where he was in charge of Global R&D Operations for commercializing innovative metal/alloy foam.  After returning to the U.S. in 2014, he served as Executive Technical Advisor for POSCO for 4 years.  His role was to promote the solution marketing for POSCO automotive steel sheets in North America.  Currently he is President/Engineering Consultant at KIM AAM Research and Technology Mentor at Mirakle51.

He received his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees all in metallurgical engineering from Seoul National University, Purdue University and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, respectively.  He holds 10 U.S./international patents and over 60 publications and conf. proceedings.
